Text Match exercises - what to match? (1) English to FL

Text Match is probably the most used component of TaskMagic and can be used in so many different ways...

This series of blog posts - "Text Match exercises - what to match?" - will explore some ideas for the kinds of things that teachers can use as the basis for their text matching exercises. Each blog post will contain screenshots of - and links to - interactive exercises as well as worksheets which can be viewed online, downloaded, printed etc. (SCROLL DOWN FOR THE WORKSHEETS)

Matching English with the foreign language is probably the most common use of Text Match, so that's where we'll start.

In the example above 16 English expressions have been matched with 16 Spanish equivalents. The file could just as easily contain just 5 or 6 matching items. Or you can include hundreds of items in the same file. See this post about Text Match files based on longer lists.

It's best to place the English on the left and the FL on the right, since some of the games available are based on reconstructing or spelling the text item on the right, and this wouldn't really make sense if that item were in English.
